Trevor, the Savage is a great beginner bike for several reasons 1. its lightweight compared to heavier cruisers, this gives the beginner confidence 2. Suzuki puts a great clutch on this bike so starting from a standstill is easy to learn. 3. the bike is very maneuverable, great for turning around and parking 4. low seat to the ground helps the beginner with balance. A couple of friends have learned on my Savage before buying their own bike.
The greatest thing about the Savage is, its power and reliability.
I work at a fire station and the guys rag me pretty good about the Savage(they ride the Yamaha V star and a Harley sporster). Last shift we had some parents and children visit for a birthday party and my Orange Savage stole the show, it was the favorite bike of the evening!! I loved it ! I never let them forget they learned on the Savage.
I recommend either the red, yellow or orange Savage for the beginner due to visibility, on this smaller bike the beginning rider really needs to stand out in traffic!
Whatever color you choose the LS650 will turn heads no matter where you are.
Good Luck and I hope this info helps with your decision.
